-   Shaw Festival Guild’s popular annual event to feature varied landscape designs -

Media Release #7

Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON (April 21, 2014) — The ninth annual Shaw Guild’s Garden Tour will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the charming Old Town area of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Seven magnificent gardens will welcome in visitors to appreciate the artistry and colour of landscape designs at their finest.

Numerous varieties of native and exotic plants, trees, and perennials will be on display amid lovely historic surroundings. Some gardens are formal with trimmed hedges and walking paths; others ramble over large estate acreage or overlook the Niagara River. Master Gardeners will be on site at each garden to answer questions, and feature sheets will be available so visitors can reproduce what they see in their own gardens.

“More than 100 Shaw Guild volunteers help in the planning and execution of the Tour,” says Cheryl Morris, 2014 Garden Tour Convenor. “Local sponsors, like Mori Gardens, Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club and Music Niagara provide tremendous support, both financially and in providing prizes for the Garden Tour Raffle. We thank everyone for their contributions.” For those who wish to stroll along the tree-lined streets of the Town, the self-paced tour can easily be accomplished on foot, as the gardens are all within walking distance.

Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at the Shaw Festival Box Office 1-800-511-7429 or online at shawfest.com/gardentour. Raffle tickets are available at local outlets. All proceeds go to the Shaw Festival Endowment Fund.
