Shaw Festival’s Annual Film Series Features Acclaimed Films and Documentaries

Media Bulletin #13

Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON (November 19, 2013) – There’s still so much more to entertain you at The Shaw’s Festival Theatre this winter. The ninth annual Shaw Festival Film Series starts November 30 at 3 p.m., with the screening of Golden Globe and Oscar winning filmmaker Susanne Bier’s romantic comedy Love Is All You Need starring Pierce Brosnan and Trine Dyrholm. The Festival Film Series continues until February 15, 2014.  The Film Series will also include a six-film documentary series beginning January 3 at 6 p.m. with Twenty Feet from Stardom, an American documentary film by veteran documentary filmmaker Morgan Neville. The film allows a peek into the lives of the unknown backup singers whose voices bring harmony to the biggest bands in popular music.

A fundraising event featuring A Royal Affair, the Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated historical drama film directed by Nikolaj Arcel, benefiting the Festival Film Series will take place at 7 p.m. on February 22. A post-show reception with food and wine will take place in the Macdonald Heaslip Lounge. Tickets are $85 (film and reception) and $25 (film only).

Gathering Niagara’s LunchMarket at the Film Series is back by popular demand! A great way to  complement the Film Series experience — grab a bite to eat from food trucks and local vendors before the Saturday afternoon screenings (doors open at 1:30 p.m.), or enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Show Times:

Feature films – Saturdays at 3 p.m. •  Documentaries – Fridays at 6 p.m.
All screenings will take place at the Festival Theatre.
