Shaw Festival’s annual Film Series features acclaimed films and documentaries

Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, November 28, 2012…The eighth annual Shaw Festival Film Series starts December 1 at 3 p.m., with the screening of Benh Zeitlin’s American fantasy drama Beasts of the Southern Wild, and will continue until February 23, 2013.

The Festival Film Series will also be accompanied by a six-film documentary series beginning January 4 at 5:30 p.m. with The Queen of Versailles, a documentary by Lauren Greenfield.

Show times:

Feature films – Saturdays at 3 p.m.
Documentaries – Fridays at 5:30 p.m.
All screenings will take place at the Festival Theatre.

Tickets are $11 per film. A 13-film Festival Film Pass is available for $120, a nine-film “Stocking Stuffer” is available for films showing after December 25 for $90 and a Documentary Pass is available for $60. All prices include HST. Seating is general admission. Advance tickets are available and same day tickets can be purchased at the Shaw Festival Box Office or by calling 1-800-511-SHAW (7429) or locally at 905-468-2172.

New this year— come early and enjoy a bite before the Saturday afternoon screenings. Gatherings Niagara’s Lunch Market at the Film Series will feature local food trucks and vendors including El Gastronomo Vagabundo and the Tide & Vine Oyster Company. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

The Shaw Festival Film Series is presented by the Shaw Festival in association with Film Circuit, a division of the Toronto International Film Festival Group. In 2011, our presentation of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy was Film Circuit’s top-grossing single-booking film, with the Festival Theatre filled to capacity.
